The best way to collaborate on audio using an audio collaboration tool

While working on audio projects, such as music, podcasts, voiceovers, and otherwise, often you’ll want to collaborate with artists, editors, producers, and team members while they’re being made. To start using Notetracks as an audio collaboration tool, select the ‘New Project’ button in the top right hand corner.

Next, select ‘Audio’ as your project type and give it a title.

In order to begin using Notetracks as an audio collaboration tool, you’ll need to share your audio project with your collaborators. To start, click the ‘Share Project’ button in the top right-hand corner of the workspace.

You’ll now see a pop-up box with a number of sharing options. In the bottom right-hand corner, you can choose a specific time-stamp to start playback on. This will share the audio project with your chosen collaborator at the exact place in the audio file you’d like to focus on.

To share with a collaborator’s email address, input it in the text box and select ‘Send Invite’. You may then utilize the drop-down menu to alter your collaborator’s access, such as to ‘Can edit’, ‘Can comment’, and ‘Can view’. Additionally, you can leave a note to tell them more about the audio project, such as for song demos or television voiceovers.

You can also easily share your audio draft with collaborators via Gmail, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Slack, and Microsoft Teams by clicking on their respective icons.

If you’d like to have a sharable link to your audio project so your collaborators do not have to login or sign-up to Notetracks, the link can be made completely public by selecting ‘Activate Public Link’, allowing anyone on the web to view, edit or comment on your Notetracks project.

Now that your audio collaborators have access to your audio project, you can both comment, draw on, and edit the file. With these features, you and your collaborators are able to give notes and commentary within the workstation, eliminating extra note-taking and communication apps. You can also collaborate in real-time using our extensive range of micro-tools, and even communicate, label, tag, and colour code sections using the Draw tool.

To begin to leave notes, feedback, and comments alongside collaborators on an audio project, navigate to the top middle of the screen and select the ‘Comment’ pane. After, you’ll want to click the left pane where ‘Comments’ is and click on the drop down menu so that the notes are visible alongside your audio.

To add feedback at a specific point without interrupting the audio, click the 'New Comment' button. Note areas where you suggest improvements or changes. Sharing concise feedback enables audio collaborators to pinpoint and target areas where edits need to be made.

You and your audio collaborators can draw and annotate on the project in addition to editing and commenting. To begin, access the ‘Draw’ pane at the top middle of the workspace. A pane with various options will appear, where you’ll see five colour choices you can use, a text insertion button, and the notepad icon.

Make sure the “Drawings” sidebar is expanded so you can see your labels, drawings, and tags. Labels are used by clicking the text insertion button, where you can then label sections of your audio file – such as “Ad Read” for a podcast, “Chorus”, for a music project, for example.

You can also use tags, as shown in the toolbar. Tags allow you to note specific instrumentation, such as vocals, guitar, drums, and more, making them especially useful for music collaborators and artists.

If you’re looking to draw and sketch on your audio, switch over to the Notepad tool, double-click on the project where you’d like to leave your drawing, and use the mouse to doodle your idea.
